I know that Thursday was National Watermelon Day, but to me, every day of the summer should be a national watermelon day!
Watermelon is one of my absolute favorite fruits of all time! There are so many recipes that you can make with watermelon. From savory salads, to sweet desserts, there is no end to the kind of recipes that you can make using this delicious and juicy fruit.
Before we get to the recipe, here are a few healthy facts about watermelon. This infographic came from Dr. Axe whom I’ve watched a lot ! He’s very good when it comes to talking about natural remedies and exercise.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ll know that I found out that I have a gluten sensitivity. All summer long, I’ve been looking for healthy ways to stay hydrated that won’t irritate my body. I had no idea how much gluten was in everything we eat. One of the ways I’ve tried to stay focused on being gluten sensitive is incorporating more fruits into my diet. I love fruit and fruit that has health benefits regarding hydration are even better!
So I wanted to create a fun drink that wasn’t too sweet, didn’t have too many calories, and that was still hydrating and refreshing. So I found some strawberry melon sparkling juice and I went from there. Here’s what you’ll need:
I used a melon baller to make cute round balls, poured in my sparkling juice, added the lemon and herbs and used a strawberry and a cute straw for garnish !
How easy was that ! The girls absolutely loved this drink and that says a lot !! It’s not too sweet, but has a really good amount of sweetness especially with the watermelon ! While summer is still in effect, I hope that you’ll try this awesome mocktail!
Who says you must have alcohol to have a pretty drink LOL !!
