Do you remember the song You Put The Lime In the Coconut?

It’s a sweet and dessert filled Friday! Today’s post is all about pretty things and the best of all… DESSERTS!!

We’ve made it to the weekend friends and I hope and pray your week has been good and if not, I pray your weekend is amazing!!

I was recently contacted by my friends at Silhouette America about doing something for summer. Well I couldn’t resist!! You all know I seriously love summer parties (well any party lol !!) and this year, I seem to be obsessed with palm leaves!! I knew a tropical themed party would be the way to go! Thus, A Lime In The Coconut Dessert Table was born!

Honestly, I had walked around singing that song for weeks and decided it would make a perfect theme.

I knew that I wanted to use my Silhouette to make palm leaves, straw decor and cupcake toppers. So that’s what I did! I started out using some regular scrapbook paper that I had lying around the house. Then I went to the online Silhouette store to search for lime and coconut images. I’m so glad I was able to find all the images that I needed for the dessert table.

Once I found the designs that I needed, I simply sat down and let my Silhouette Cameo do the work! I have a few other projects on my blog that I have used my Cameo for. One of the most popular post are my planner stamps. I used making the Silhouette Mint. You can find that post here

Here is a breakdown on the different items I had on the dessert table and what I used my Cameo for.

Balloon Backdrop with Paper Palm Leaves and Coconuts

As a party stylist, it is my job to keep up with the latest party trends! Balloons have made a serious comeback in such a modern and grown up way and I couldn’t be happier!! I used white balloons to give you the illusion of the inside of a coconut. With my Silhouette, I cut out the 3D coconut. Yes you can cut and make 3D items with your Silhouette Cameo! I then cut different sizes and shapes of palm leaves. You know that I have a flair for the dramatic and this balloon backdrop is right up my alley!

Straw Embellishments

I am here for the extra bit of detail to the straws! I knew I wanted to really hone in on the “Lime in The Coconut” theme. So, I created the limes from a file from the Silhouette Store. I didn’t have to cut a thing because the Silhouette cut the grooves in them that I needed. Love them!

Cupcake Toppers

The cupcake toppers were a little different to make. Instead of purchasing an image, I purchased an actual font named Lime in The Coconut, somebody at Silhouette totally gets it LOL!! From there, I just went to my font and sized the wording the way I wanted it to be. I then welded the lettering together, that way it would all cut into one image and voilà!! Then I used my glue gun to adhere the cut working to a toothpick and there you go! Instant cuteness!!

Food Tent Cards

Normally I print these cards out, but I was trying to use what I had on hand. I found some 4×5 cards. You could also easily use scrapbook paper and cut it down to size. I then cut a few palm leaf images and glued them to the cardstock. For the letters, I used some alpha number I had lying around the house. You could also use your Silhouette Cameo to put wording on your tent cards. Make sure that you always label your dessert table, so that your guest can know what they are eating!
