Spring Into Action Blog Hop – Kitchen Refresh

Happy Hump Day Friends!

I am SO excited for this post today!!

So many of you know that I’ve been co-hosting a blog hop with some of my favorite blogger boos and today is reveal day!!

The purpose of the Spring Into Action Blog Hop was to tackle those projects around the house that we have meant to tackle or ones we never finished.

For me it was our kitchen.

Here are a few of the before photos in our kitchen. As you can see it’s not that bad, but it’s not a happy kitchen either and lacks personality a tad.

When we moved in this house almost 2 years ago, I was eager to change the kitchen, but due to my design and decor commitment issues, I had a hard time choosing things. I knew I wanted something timeless and classic. Something that I wouldn’t get tired of, but it also needed to have a bit of sass just like me ha!!

I knew the brown cabinets had to go, but I also knew I didn’t want to purchase new ones. So since I’m married to a BOMB guy who just happens to be a very handsome painter as well. He decided he would take care of it!

It’s a win for me!

So when I finally explained to my hubby what I wanted, he was ok with my choices and we went forward with our plans.

Here is the after!!!

I SO love how this DIY of love turned out! Here are a few of the details!

Cabinets and Island

I chose Grey for the cabinets by Sherwin Williams. It’s a special paint that cures with a matte finish. It also eliminates the steps of priming before you paint! We didn’t get a chance to put our cabinet hardware on because I decided brass would look better. So stay tuned for that.

Lighting

I found these lights one day just perusing around HomeGoods. I wasn’t sure how they would work, but shockingly my hubby liked them too! So I had to grab them and they were a great price.

Backsplash

Hubby and I also found some tile at Home Depot on a shopping trip for something else and we decided to look for tile. All the tile we found was on clearance!! So of course we grabbed as much of it as we could. We even have enough left for a future project.

In the near future, we are going to change all of the appliances and the flooring. However, until then, I am content!!

I love my old new kitchen!

Next, head over to my sweet friend Mimi’s blog Unlikely Martha and check out her beautiful entryway!! Love her!! Let me know what you think!!

Your kitchen came out beautifully! I especially love the pop of blue on the island. You rocked this Nicole!

  14. Nicole…I love the painted cabinets. We’ve been wanting to paint ours for years but have a large kitchen so it’s intimidating. You’ll definitely have to share more about the Sherwin Williams paint you used and the process. Your kitchen looks so pretty and I cannot wait to see those brass knobs.

    • Nicole says:

Thank you so much Crystal! I will definitely share about the paint we used the process was pretty painless!
